Seven Questions with Signed Athlete: Owen “Cash” Harrison

Q & A

Signed with Oklahoma Wesleyan University – Tennis

Is there a coach, athlete, or person you look up to as a role model? Why?

When I was a sophomore there was a senior named Colter Fannin, and I really looked up to him because he was really good, and I wanted to be as good as him.

What clubs, teams, or extracurriculars do you participate in at the school?

I am on the academic team. I was in cross country, and I am in FCA.

What is a major highlight for you in your athletic career?

When I was a junior, I made it to state with my doubles partner, and we beat a really good team from Tahlequah that had beaten us in the past to make it to day 2 at State.

Do you have any tips for other students who are thinking about trying your sport?

I’d just say that you have to get out there and try. I never thought that I could do well, and when I started playing tennis, I was just as bad as anybody, but I kept pushing.

What makes you so passionate about playing your sport?

Tennis is a very mental sport that pushes you to strategize and think about every point and all the little things that just make it the most enjoyable and tough sport there is.

Who has taught you the most about your sport?

I would say Coach Pate. He convinced me to come play my freshman year, taught me the basics, and has been there supporting me every step of the way.

What do you do that makes you who you are?

I am a child of God and that is what makes me who I am. I strive to be better and do everything I do for God.
